![]() ![]() One reviewer commented that the ships have no personality, and are just conveyance vehicles, that there are no deck plans, etc. It sounds like the books are quite attractive, that the level-system legacy from AGE's D&D roots may negatively affect things at higher levels (PCs being too tough and no longer afraid of combat), and I can't tell whether the space/ship system is good or bad. Separate from that fanbase, the setting has some promise - harder science-fiction, focused within our solar system, with heavy politics and tension between the corrupt Earthers, the militant Mars terraformers, and the anarchic Belters, and then some alien supernatural goodness thrown in. I've read a couple of reviews for The Expanse RPG, which are almost all predicated on being fans of either the novels or TV show. It isn't clear whether that's because the AGE system has flaws, or the Dragon Age rpg does, or something else.Ī good system for Modern/Future roleplaying is always welcome. I'd expect to hear more about the Dragon Age rpg, given the popularity of its source material, but it doesn't come up a lot. It's got stunts and a third die that powers special effects. I don't know anything about Modern AGE other than the fantasy version, Fantasy AGE, is the engine behind Dragon Age and Wil Wheaton's Titansgrave: Ashes of Valkana. #Suggestions based on expanse books fullThe Expanse tier includes the full rpg line for Expanse: core rulebook, Gamemaster's Kit, the Abzu's Bounty campaign, and a short adventure Salvage Op. The Modern AGE Collection includes the Basic Rulebook and Companion, a "cross-dimensional campaign setting" Threefold, Enemies & Allies for Threefold and other Modern AGE settings, an adventure called Missions: Warflower, and a Gamemaster's Kit. The latest Bundle of Holding features a Modern AGE Collection at the first tier and the Expanse RPG at the second tier. ![]()
